book “review”: Persuasion
I don’t believe in “must-read” book lists — or in book reviews, per se — but I do love to offer suggestions. This novel is one of many I’ve read and adored, and that (like all the others here) I’ve found to be particularly engrossing, magical, relaxing, comforting, insightful, and beautifully written.
It may sound a bit cliché, I know, but I adore Jane Austen. I love everything she wrote, and I even love quite a few of the movies based on her books.
(My love of all things Jane does not, however, typically extend to the many books *based* on her characters and their storylines.)
I’ve read all of her novels (several of them multiple times), and my favorite by far is Persuasion.
This book — the last complete novel she wrote — is quiet and melancholy, but immensely satisfying in the end. Definitely a good one to lose yourself in for a day or two.
Like many other Austen fans, I suppose, I own multiple editions of most of her books. This one is part of a sweet little matching set of her novels that I found at our favorite local second-hand bookstore.
Tell me: Are you an Austen fan, too?
