shop Read. Purr. gifts

Looking for the perfect gift for someone who loves quiet spaces and books as much as we do?

Or maybe you need a little something for your own reading nook? :-)

Click “Read. Purr. gifts” below to find our own pins, bookmarks, and postcards.

Click “soothing art prints” to find unframed 5×7 art prints that will bring a bit of the outdoors (or maybe a cat!) to your desk, bookshelf, or reading nook. These art cards are printed here in the U.S. and feature my own artwork of peaceful, calming nature scenes … plus a few contented cats.

Click “the books we love” to visit our Bookshop.org shop, which is full of our favorite novels, books about books & readers, mysteries, and cat books.

Click “jigsaw puzzles” to browse a collection of puzzles featuring bookish subjects … and cats!

For the Read. Purr. gifts and art prints sold directly in our online shop, we offer a 7-day 100%-satisfaction-guaranteed return policy. If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, or if it arrives damaged, notify us via email within 7 days, and we’ll send you a full refund of the purchase price. Starting on the eighth day after the order has been delivered, and continuing thereafter, all sales are final.

When you follow the “books we adore” or “jigsaw puzzles” links to our Bookshop.org storefront, those sales are handled entirely through the Bookshop.org website. If you buy a book or puzzle from my storefront on the site — I receive a small percentage of the sale, at no extra cost to you. And a percentage of the sale is also added to the pool of funds that Bookshop.org distributes among independent brick-and-mortar bookstores. (As of Dec. 2020, less than a year since the website launched, that earnings pool already totals more than $10 million.)

how we give back …

We believe in the value of community and small, local businesses — and in eating, shopping, and even donating locally as often as possible.

So a portion of all sales will be donated to these local (to us) nonprofit organizations, to help them with the good work they’re doing on behalf of readers, children, and cats. Thank you!

As Kentucky’s only nonprofit cat café, Lucky Cat Café & Lounge provides a peaceful, relaxing home and adoption facility for cats that have been rescued/fostered by three different Louisville-area organizations. And their Book Buddies program helps struggling readers, in grades 3 through 6, by letting them read to cats.

The privately funded Lexington Humane Society is Central Kentucky’s largest pet-adoption agency. And it’s where we met and adopted our own sweet Leo Kitty.

Our local Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning “empowers people to explore and express their voices through imaginative learning and the literary arts,” helping all ages through classes and special programs, and helping kids through tutoring programs.

The International Book Project donates thousands of books to organizations helping readers both here locally and all over the world, all from right here in Lexington.

And, of course, we encourage you to support your own local charities, too, as you’re able.
